Buying a Car Can Turn You Upside Down

It's expensive buying a car and it only gets more so as time goes on. Over time, the price of new cars has increased faster than the rate of inflation. This isn't entirely due to greed on the part of automakers; cars are also more complicated and useful than they used to be. Sure, they were cheaper in the 1960's, but they didn't include air conditioning, air bags and video systems. Convenience and safety comes at a price.

With the increase in price comes an increase in the length of time people are taking to pay off their cars. Few people pay cash; most people take out loans and pay over time. The average car loan, which used to be repaid over a period of three years, now averages about six years in duration. That's a long time to pay for a car, especially if you have no plans to own it for that long.

Taking six years to pay for a car has its advantages, as the payments are lower than they would be over a shorter loan term. Such a long loan does have a significant disadvantage, though - you can find yourself in a negative equity, or "upside down", situation. This can be a serious problem - if you should total the car in an accident, your insurance company will only pay you the value of the car, and not the amount you still owe.

A buyer is described as being upside down when he or she owes more on a car loan than the car is worth. It's easy to find yourself in an upside situation, and it can occur under any of the following circumstances:

Insufficient down payment - Cars depreciate as much as 25% the minute you drive them off of the lot. If you haven't provided enough of a down payment to cover that depreciation, you may find yourself upside down immediately.

Trading in too often - Buyers like to trade cars in and roll their outstanding balance into a new loan. These unpaid debts can contribute to negative equity.

Too long a loan - Five and six year loans often lead to negative equity. You can often avoid it by keeping the length of loans to three years or less.

In order to avoid a potential problem in the event of an accident, you should contact your insurance provider to make sure that you have "gap insurance." Gap insurance will make sure that you are protected should you have an accident while in an upside down situation. Without gap insurance, you may find yourself still making car payments even though you no longer have a car. That is the last thing any car owner wants.

Wealth Creation And The Values Myths That Keep You Poor!

So much gobbledygook has been conditioned into us relating to monetary values that it is no wonder so many people fail financially.

Susanna came to me to learn about wealth creating but our conversation got off to a shaky but relevant start.

Charles, wow did I get value for money today. Smirking Sams are having a stock clearance sale and I bought a new lounge suite at 30% off retail. I saved a bundle!

May I ask you Susanna, what this lounge suite ended up costing you?

Well the marked price was $2,200.00 and I snapped it up for only $1,540.00.

And if tomorrow you placed the lounge suite into a clearance auction, what would you expect to get for it?

Oh come on Charles thats not fair. You know Id be lucky to get $500.00 for it. The buyers there are mostly dealers and bargain hunters.

Mmm, exactly, I replied shrugging. So what could you sell the lounge suite for privately?

Probably $850.00 - $900.00.

So what you are saying, is that your wealth total upon purchase went down by a massive $690.00 even though you received a 30% discount off of the bigger suckers theory price. On the other hand if you had purchased this lounge suite at an auction your assets would have temporarily risen by $350.00. Thats a differential of $1040.00.

Susanna appeared offended. But others would have paid the $2,200.00 for it and paid interest on their credit card whilst paying it off. At least I paid cash and waited for the sale price.

That is true. The average punter would pay the full $2,200.00 plus credit card interest of about $300.00 - totaling $2,500.00. This amount is paid out of after tax income so they would have to earn about $3,300.00 to have the after tax proceeds of $2,500.00 available.

Smirking Sams of course, might have purchased the lounge suite from an importer who in turn bought it from the manufacturer. Beside Uncle Sam, there may also have been wholesalers and distributors involved in the purchase chain. You can readily perceive that each person values that lounge suite differently. Of course being a depreciating value item the lounge suite will steadily loose value until it is worthless.

Then Charles could you explain to me, how does one set the true value of an article?

You came to me to ask my advise on wealth creation techniques, so I will answer the question What is Value? from the wealth creators perspective. Lets start by destroying the myth of supply and demand.

My student wealth creator readily agreed and appeared most willing to learn so I continued.

You might be under the mistaken assumption that the value of a commodity or product is relative to the supply and demand of that commodity or product. The academic purists have been selling us that line for decades. What poppycock!

The wealth creator is ever thankful that the concept of values is not, has never been, and will never be, that simple. You will notice in the above example of your lounge suite that at no stage in the selling chain has the supply or demand of that lounge suite gone up or down yet the value to each participant in the play is quite different.

Supply and demand, business trends and cycles, and inflation may well affect the value - but these factors alone do not set the value.

So lets try my wealth creator's definition on for size:

The value of any article is in direct proportion to the current needs and means of the potential buyer, and the current need of the potential seller to dispose of such item.

A buyer's current need and means must be compatible. For example, a person dying of thirst in the desert certainly has the need for your jug of water that you are asking a $1,000.00 for, but the poor soul may not have the means.

The seller's current need also affects the value.

For example, a lawyer, acting as the trustee of a will, may have the current need to dispose of the household effects in an estate quickly to finalize an estate, so the law-firm consigns the whole inventory into a clearing auction. As a wealth creator you attend the auction and buy an antique dresser from that estate at less than half the price you know you can easily resell the dresser for. Naturally your then current need to dispose of the dresser is different from the lawyer's.

A seller who is desperate for money, will obviously have a differing current need to dispose of an article than a seller who isn't desperate to sell.

Both buyers and sellers have differing current needs. The countless reasons behind those needs sets the nominal value in each transaction.

And isn't this absolutely wonderful for the Wealth Creator?

For the wealth creator, the word "value" takes on an extended meaning. The value is merely an indicator of the current respective needs and means of the parties to the transaction, upon the wide spectrum of potential values. The Wealth Creator merely buys from one end of this wonderful spectrum and sells at the other end.

So Charles you are saying, in regards to my lounge suite, I should have kept my eye on the clearing auctions etc and bought one similar for $500.00.

No I didnt say that at all.

Then I still dont understand.

Your $500.00 is still paid out of after tax income and the lounge will be worthless in a few years time, so even though you are losing much less on the deal, you are still loosing wealth not creating wealth, are you not?

I guess so but what is the alternative?

Remember a wealth creator hates the words losing and loss. Simply be patient. With the $500.00, purchase various items from the auctions or yard sales that you will then on-sell for at least $1,000.00. Then if you wish, you can take the $500.00 profit and go and buy your lounge suite.

With the other $500.00, why not start your part time wealth program. Turn the $500.00 into $100,000.00 via the principles in my book and then if you want to, you can go and start your own Smirking Susannas franchise LOL!

So my lounge suite has in effect cost me nothing and I can go about creating a fortune with the other $500.00.

Exactly so.

God you make it sound so easy.

Oh but I assure you, it is easy.

A Buyers Guide to Film Scanners

Film scanners are made for the sole and express purpose of scanning film directly into your computer. Unlike their flatbed counterparts, which may be able to handle media of various sizes and thicknesses and can even scan film if a transparency adapter is installed, film scanners scan only one thing: film. But because the image to be scanned is taken directly from the original material - from the film, and not from a print - film scanners allow more direct control over image elements such as cropping and aspect ratio. In addition, film has more detail and dynamic range compared to prints - which invariably lose tonal range and color data during the printmaking process. These are real concerns to photographers and graphic artists, who rely on original slides and film - and film scanners - to ensure the integrity of scanned images in professional and commercial applications. So, if your work relies on scanning negatives, slides, and other types of film, a film scanner is the right choice for you. This buying guide tackles some of the more important things that you need to know when looking for a film scanner.

Style and Type Some flatbed scanners include either an external or built-in transparency adapter that is used to scan film. Other flatbeds are of a dual-bed design; i.e., with one bed - the glass flatbed part of the scanner -for scanning prints; and another bed - a transparency bay that looks like a pull-out drawer - for scanning film. If you intend to scan only the occasional slide or stray piece of film, and don't mind the lower resolution as well, a flatbed scanner that can accommodate film may well serve your purpose. Be aware, however, that the resulting film scans will not be suitable for commercial or professional use. To obtain the best results, nothing less than a dedicated film scanner will do.

Bit Depth

A scanner's bit depth determines the number of bits captured per pixel, which is related to the number of possible colors. The higher the bit depth is, the greater the number of colors that can be shown. Bit depth for film scanners on the market today can be 30-bits, 36-bits, 42-bits, or 48-bits. Always aim for higher bit depth when possible, as this allows the scanner to work with and retain a greater amount of color information. A 48-bit scanner, for instance, produces 65,536 levels or shades of color per R,G,B (red, green, blue) channel, resulting in a mind-blowing possible combination of about 250 trillion colors. In contrast, a 36-bit scanner produces 4,096 levels of information, or a paltry 68.7 billion colors.

Resolution

For scanners, the optical, or "true", resolution is what matters, as this is the actual number of pixels being read by the scanner's optics. Film scanners have much higher resolution figures compared to flatbeds, with optical resolution in film scanners ranging from 2700 dpi to 5400 dpi, and 4000 dpi being the most common. The high resolution in film scanners allows you to enlarge small images, creating enough pixels in the process to print in full-page size.

For instance, a full-frame 35mm color negative scanned at 2400 dpi will result in a size of about 3400 x 2200 pixels. If this 2400-dpi image is printed at 300 dpi, the resulting printed image will be 8 times larger than the original film size (2400/300=8). In actual terms, this means that your original 1.4 x 0.9-inch film (36 x 24 mm) can be increased by 8 times to 11.2 x 7.2 inches when printed at 300 dpi - without any loss of image clarity or detail. A word of caution: Because film scanners can scan in such high resolutions, file sizes can be big. Scanning the 35mm negative at 2400 dpi in the example just cited will result in a file size of 22 megabytes.

Film Formats

Most film scanners work with 35mm film. Some can scan APS film, but an optional APS adapter is needed to batch scan the full APS roll. Other film scanners, such as the Microtek ArtixScan 120tf, can scan medium format film as well, ranging from 6x6cm to 6x17cm panoramic. Check to see what types of film holders are provided with the film scanner; most models will include a 35mm slide holder as well as a 35mm filmstrip holder. A few models offer optional autofeeders that accommodate 50 mounted slides to allow efficient batch scanning of film.

Interface

The hardware interface of your film scanner will determine how long it takes to transfer digital data to a computer for processing. Together with the actual operational speed of the scanner, the hardware interface plays an important part in determining scan speed. Most older film scanners have SCSI ports; the newer film scanners feature FireWire or USB (Hi-Speed or USB 1.1) interfaces. Models with either USB or FireWire interface are hot swappable - which means the scanners can be plugged or unplugged from other devices to which they are connected without having to turn the scanners off and on.

Dynamic Range

The dynamic range of a scanner measures how well it can capture the tonal range of an image, ranging from the brightest highlights to the darkest shadows. Dynamic range is a more important spec in film scanners than it is for flatbeds, because film and other transparent media have a broader range of tones compared to photos or prints - something that film scanners are perfectly equipped to capture and show. Dynamic range is measured on a scale from 0.0 (perfect white) to 4.0 (perfect black), and the single number associated with a scanner indicates how much of that range it can tell apart. The minimum and maximum density values that can be captured by a scanner are called Dmin and Dmax, respectively. If a scanner's Dmin was 0.2 and its Dmax was 4.2, then its dynamic range would be 4.0. The dynamic range of film scanners are usually advertised by their manufacturers as falling somewhere between 4.0 and 4.6, but these are intrinsically difficult figures to prove or validate, and a model claiming a higher number may not necessarily have better results to show, mainly because of variances in testing and determining the figure. A more practical way of assessing would be to visually check how shadows and highlights are reproduced by the scanner and then compare the results to the original image or to how other scanners reproduce those same tonal colors.

Dust-and-Scratch Removal, Film Repair

Software provided with film scanners can be specialized and varied. Like flatbeds, film scanners will include their own driver or scanning software, as well as bundle an image-editing program - such as Adobe Photoshop - into which scanned images are delivered and placed. In addition, higher-end film scanners may include a color calibration and ICC profiler program, which ensures consistent color by creating a color profile specific to the film scanner. With the ICC profiler program, an image - known as an IT8 target and containing industry-standard color values - is scanned, and then compared to values that the scanner actually recorded. The differences are then translated into a compensation scheme to even out color variations, so that accurate color results can be produced in the future.

Dust and scratches on film can present a big challenge for film scanners, as imperfections can take on gigantic proportions when the film is scanned at the scanner's very high resolution. Film can also be damaged through improper handling, and what appears to the naked eye as a tiny scratch may render the image on a film practically useless. For this reason, a number of film-repair technologies have been developed to remove imperfections, allowing an image to be reconstructed and printed flawlessly, as though it came from a pristine original. These film-repair technologies may be implemented either through software alone, such as the dust-and-scratch removal feature from the SilverFast program by LaserSoft Imaging; or through a combination of hardware and software, as is the case with the DIGITAL ICE technology built-into some models.

Other technologies

Depending on the model, film scanners may incorporate proprietary technologies unique and exclusive to their manufacturer. Such technologies may include an auto-focus mechanism to ensure perfect image capture, a patented feeder mechanism, or specially designed holders for making film stay flat. These features may make a real difference in improving the quality of your scanning or streamlining your workflow.

How to Make a Photo Collage

Making a digital photo collage is not as difficult as one might think. Its really very simple with most photo editing software. It just takes a little time and patience. Even basic photo editing software that normally come with the purchase of a digital camera or printer. A very good photo editing software is PhotoShop Elements and older versions of it, which are perfectly fine, often come included with a new digital camera, printer or scanner.

Photoshop Elements 2.0 is the software I have used for my step by step guide, How to Make a Photo Collage.

The basic steps in making a collage are simple. The first step would be to open a blank document in your photo editing software. Your blank document should be the size you want your finished photo collage to be, example, 8x10 and of a resolution of 300 for good printing quality.

Next choose your pictures, keep it to about 10 pictures or less to begin with, till you are used to working with a lot of pictures so as not to be overwhelmed. Open them and drag them into your blank document.

Next resize the pictures as necessary. A tip, hold down the shift key as you drag from a corner to resize the picture, holding the shift key will keep the proportions of the picture so as not to distort the image. You can resize back bigger or smaller as needed as you work to decide the layout o the photo collage. Move the pictures around to see what looks letter where, try to create some balance, perhaps choose a focal picture to place in the middle and be larger than the others. But the focus does not have to always be in the middle, see what works best with the pictures you are using.

Now comes the most difficult part, the blending. For this we use the eraser tool. Choose your eraser tool and the size you want based on the size of your pictures. You want a blurred edge eraser for better blending. Erase the hard edge on each picture first then one by one, blend into each other, resizing the pictures where necessary. This is not something that can be taught, you have to just jump in and try it, if you make a mistake you can always delete the layer of that picture and open the picture again and drag it back in and try again. Use the step backward tool as well to undo any mistakes when you can.

Youve made a photo collage, time to look around and make any final touches and adjustments. Save your document as a PSD, the default Photoshop Elements file type and then save it again as a jpeg so you can print and/or share it. Keep the PSD file in order to make any changes to your photo collage as you cannot change or adjust the jpeg file, it is just a copy.

See, was that so hard? For an illustrated step-by-step guide you can print and use to help you along the way please visit my website.

The Leo Wanta Saga, Pt. 11: Bush Illegally Blocks The Wanta Plan And $4.5 Trillion Settlement On Behalf Of Americans

With the Federal Reserve Board illegally blocking The Wanta Plan , overseas financial sources are reporting today that U.S. authorities are preparing a plan to hi-jack the $4.5 trillion dollar settlement collecting dust in a Bank of America account In Richmond, Va.

This is the reason, sources say, President George W. Bush personally instructed the Fed to block the transfer of money, involving a vast sum of money earmarked for the U.S. Treasury, AmeriTrust Groupe, Inc. and former Ambassador Leo Wanta.

Financial observers informed the Arctic Beacon corrupt "high level" American officials are planning to steal the full sum of money, even though the money belongs to the people and protected by Wanta as the legal trustor.

A Suspicious Activity Report (SAR) that was to have been filed with the Bank of America, Richmond, has meanwhile mysteriously gone missing," said the editor of an influential London currency review, adding if such actions were taken it would involve a crime to defraud the rightful owners of the money.

The $4.5 trillion in The Wanta Plan were recently signed pursuant to the accord an agreement between Leo Wanta/AmeriTrust Groupe, Inc., the US Treasury, the Secretary of the Treasury Henry M. Paulson, Jr., and other key high level players who all decided this partial settlement would be better than Wanta's original idea of pursuing the entire amount estimated at between $27.5 and $70 trillion.

It is important to remember the funds belong to Wanta as trustor and his trading corporation and are not the property of Bank of America, the Federal Reserve, the Treasury or any other party.

The signed agreement was finalized June 12 after Wanta, a former Treasury and Secret Service agent, was released from a long and unwarranted jail term, including 133 days in Swiss dungeon. Further, Wanta suffered tremendous hardship since the late 1980's, including a character assassination by the CIA as operatives even falsely pronounced him dead in order to loot the vast sum of money.

Wanta's ordeal began after refusing to "play ball" with President George H. Bush and President William Jefferson Clinton who reportedly used the vast sum of public money, estimated at more than 27.5 trillion, for their own personal benefit.

According to Wanta, who has appeared numerous times on Greg Szymanski's radio show, The Investigative Journal, the smear campaign and illegal jailing began after he refused demands by Bush and Clinton for the wrongful diversion of $1 billion into an Panama bank account for Pilgrim Investments/Jorge (George) Bush in August 1989.

Wanta has identified this transaction as being illegal, but also has traced more than $750 billion of the booty as being diverted, stolen or misused by the Bush and Clinton crime families, monies which should have been properly returned to the American people.

Christopher Story, a financial writer from London, following the story, said: "The reappearance of this upright Treasury/Secret Service financial agent after years of absence, after the CIA had lied for years that he was dead, delivered a high-voltage electric shock to the criminal gangs operating inside the US structures.

"These are led by arrogant and powerful intelligence 'barons', and their compromised intelligence, banking and legal associates. Such people now understandably fear that they are all going to be exposed, arrested and indicted for their serial corruption crimes over the years."

Under The Wanta Plan, considered bigger and more important than The Marshall Plan of the World War II era, Wanta himself outlined the specifics of the deal recently as a guest on The Investigative Journal.

"Under the plan," explained Wanta, "the US Treasury is to receive $1.575 trillion in tax payments from the $4.5 trillion, representing tax payable at 35%, and then at least $96 billion per banking day following the delayed start-up of prearranged AmeriTrust Groupe, Inc. trading operations."

Wanta added another similar aggregate tax amount per banking day will be payable to the U.S. Treasury/IRS arising from a similar transactions with other U.S. parties, generating an estimated aggregate $200 billion every banking day for the Treasury.

In addition, the State of Virginia is to receive an initial windfall tax remittance amounting to $270 billion since Wanta's group was incorporated there, ensuring windfall tax remittances to Pennsylvania, as well.

When Wanta appeared on The Investigative Journal last week, he said he was miffed why the Fed would illegally hold up the transaction sinice it was costing the American people $200 billion every banking day the money remains dormant.

Further, he officially gave the Fed until July 31 to release the money, saying the agreement would then be null and void as he planned to then go after the total aggregate amount of offshore money estimated at $70 trillion.

"I don't think they want that to happen," added Wanta. "It could be devastating to some major worldwide financial as they would collapse since they do not have the liquidity to return the full amount of the money."

As a capsule summary, the vast sum of money used illegally by corrupt insiders inside the U.S. government, was originally amassed by Wanta as part of a plan he and several other financial whizzes devised on behalf of President Ronald Reagan to destabilize the Soviet currency, bringing a quick end to the Cold War.

However, after Reagan left office, he was back stabbed by the Bush I and Clinton sadministration, leading to a long and unwarranted jail term to "get him out of the way," including 133 in a Swiss jail and years behind bars on a bogus Wisconsin state income tax charge.

Released more than a year ago, Wanta has been trying with limited resources and no cooperation from the government and the media to return the money to the American people.

During his many years in jail, much of the money has been diverted to numerous private overseas accounts and, according to Wanta, essentially looted by the corrupt Bush and Clinton crime families.

But in an unexpected move in 2003 Wanta filed a federal court case to recover the money. Although the case was dismissed under sovereign immunity, he received verification from the court that his legal trustor status was valid, the judge telling him to use the federal collections courts as a recovery process.

During the last year, Wanta has been trying to retrace his financial tracks and Monday emailed the Arctic Beacon for being one of the only news outlets to follow the story, saying 1.2 trillion is a good first step at lowering the national debt.

Regarding the illegal blockage of money authorized by President Bush and the Fed Reserve, The International Currency Review had this to say, reminding the American people it's imperative to follow the Wanta money before it is stolen by the corrupt criminals controlling the White House:

"Just as a taxpayer is obliged to pay his taxes, on pain of severe penalties for not doing so, anyone who prevents a taxpayer from paying tax is liable in the eyes of the law: and this, as noted, applies to everyone, without exception, including the President of the United States."

Bingo Instants

Are you a bingo nut looking for a quick way to win extra prizes? Bingo instants complement your usual bingo game, whether it is a land-based or online game.

Bingo instants are basically games in which the player has an instant win or loss. Mostly these games are in the form of scratch cards. The majority of bingo halls have instants games that can be purchased in addition to cards for the main bingo game. These can usually be purchased for a predetermined amount, which can vary depending on the prize value of the instants game.

Land-based bingo instants work as per regular scratch cards. Players need to scratch off covered areas on their cards to see what prize is hidden underneath the area they have scratched. These prizes vary, and many games have a jackpot number which is the largest prize a player can win on that game. Players are able to buy different instants according to the card jackpot value they choose. Prizes for each game could be anything from a few dollars to a few thousand dollars. These are games of chance, as are standard bingo games.

Bingo instants played alongside bingo games at online sites work in a similar way to land-based instants, except that in the online versions the bingo software reveals the hidden prize that is hidden behind each number as opposed to the player having to scratch the covered area. These work in a similar way to the bingo game, but the prizes are revealed only as each number is called. Players whose bingo instant card has the right combination have the chance to win huge cash prizes. These games are played from the main bingo game, alongside other side games such as slots games. As in the land-based instants, game values vary according to prize value, and each game has a predetermined jackpot, which is the maximum prize value.

One of the best things about bingo instants is that they are so quick and easy to play. They are cost effective as well, so players do not need to exceed their bingo budgets. The prizes that players stand to win on these games can be huge. Instants are also fun, and are a bit like a quick bingo game that has instant results!

How to Use an Offshore Bank Account for Asset Protection

Having an offshore bank account is one thing, using it is quite another matter.

Corporate Account When you have a corporate account the money belongs to the corporation not you personally. When the corporation is an anonymous bearer share Panama corporation your anonymity is further protected since establishing ownership of the corporation is about impossible so you would have to see who is recorded at the bank as the beneficial owner of the bank account and this requires you to convince a court in Panama to open up the bank records (something that is very rarely done) to reveal who the beneficial owner is. Even in the unlikely event a court did this this it would be of little value since the money still belongs to the corporation. So if you had a financial enemy pursuing you personally they would not be able to transfer a personal debt to the corporation very easily. They would need to show that you transferred funds to the corporation to make sure debtors could not recover the funds; it is called a fraudulent conveyance. The court cases pertaining to this are far from simple, they are expensive and time consuming and can take years to get heard in court. When wires are sent to an anonymous bearer share Panama Corporation no one knows who the owners of the corporation are, thus they do not know what natural persons are actually receiving the funds. When wiring funds into your Panama corporate bank account it is not revealing in terms of what the wire is for versus wiring money into a personal account. The Anonymous Panama Corporation adds in a nice thick layer of privacy protection.

ATM Cards - When you open a Panama bank account one can usually obtain an ATM card good for cash withdraws from ATM machines worldwide. These ATM cards will have your name on them and can be associated with the bank you are using. Some people obtain an ATM card from another unrelated financial institution. These cards typically have no name imprinted on them which right away adds to your privacy protection. These cards also do not leave a trail to your real bank. Money can be transferred to the ATM card by wire from your Panama or other bank account and then withdrawn as needed. Some people are fond of using these cards to cover corporate expenses like travel, entertainment and other business expenses. Usually the ATM card purchase requires a copy of a passport.

Visa and MasterCard Debit Cards Watch it here. This can be a real privacy violator. The USA recently got a lot of MasterCard records by a court order served on MasterCard in Miami. This could happen again. The more private way of doing this is to get a Visa or MasterCard debit card from another bank, not your Panama bank. You load the card by wiring funds onto the card from your Panama bank. This eliminates any ties the card has to your real bank account. The card should come from an issuing bank in a bank secrecy country. The way these programs work is Visa and MasterCard do not know who the actual card holder is no date of birth, no address, no tax id numbers etc. only the issuing bank has this information since they require a passport copy and a physical address to send the card to. So a subpoena to MasterCard or Visa would produce very little and since the bank is in a country with bank secrecy this avenue is going to be a long burdensome process that would be unlikely to be pursued and could only be pursued by a government in a criminal matter. You want to use a country where address verification is not set up on the debit cards or else use a mailing/billing address for the card in another country where you have a reliable mail drop box. This further protects your privacy and of course is a convenient way to guard against any potential identity theft associated with using the debit card in a restaurant, store, online etc.

Telephone Records If you need to telephone your offshore bank consider using an anonymous prepaid cell phone so there is no record of any calls to the bank on your phone bill. Private detectives in USA can readily get copies of phone bills. A sharp divorce or collection attorney will look for international calls to isolate an offshore bank.

Online Banking This is a great feature. Eliminate having statements sent to the house or office. Who knows who logs these statements being sent in the mail or even worse reads them, remember you could be a terrorist. Remember your ISP is a privacy nightmare. They are unregulated in general, unlicensed, and could be owned by felons, child molesters or whatever. These people can collect your entire internet transactions read them and save them forever. Rest assured all of the big ISP's like MSN, AOL, ATT, COMCAST will save your log files for ever showing every website you ever went to, every file downloaded, every email sent and to whom, etc. Don't assume they would require a court order to distribute this data, read your terms of service agreement and be prepared to be shocked. Now why should they know what online offshore bank you log into? So how do you stop it? You use an anonymous internet service provider. You log onto the internet then log onto their VPN which encrypts all your internet traffic going from your computer to their server and now your log files are basically encrypted and your ISP only has gibberish log files on you except he knows you connected to the anonymous internet provider but has no idea what you did or where you went. Make sure the anonymous internet provider does not save log files or only does so for a few days to track down hackers, spammers etc. Never bookmark your online bank. Save your passwords in an encrypted password folder. Use a hard drive cleaner like evidence eliminator to erase tracks, places visited, image files, cookies, downloads logs etc that windows saves. To protect from Trojans, attacks etc. use an anti-spy ware program like spyware doctor and Norton anti-virus. Do not trust one of them alone. If you get a keystroke logger or Trojan it can capture your passwords and they can rob your bank account online. Extra measures are an application based firewall so if a Trojan got in it would not be able to phone home without you giving the new application manual permission to connect to the internet and a wireless router that uses encryption. All of these steps should keep you safe if you keep them updated and turned on beats having someone get your passwords.

Chicago Bear News

Their current record is 5-0 and it is their best start since 1986. Rex Grossman said about the game, That was a fun game. Anytime you execute like that -- offense, defense, special teams -- anytime you play like that, it's so much fun."

The latest Chicago Bear news is that the national experts have anointed Lovie Smith's (head coach) as the best in the National Football League (NFL). Smith does not seem to be impressed with what the experts have done. Once they start giving out trophies after five games, then you start patting yourself on the back, Smith said. We're 5-0 right now, (but) we haven't accomplished any of our goals. We have so much football left to go.

Based statistics so far, you would be very impressed with the team. They are averaging a league-leading 31.2 points a game and have only permitted 7.2 points a game. They won the 5 games by 26,27,2, 31 and 33 points for a total of 120 points, the second largest in the league. They are second to the St. Louis Rams who have 123 points.

It's hard beating teams by those types of scores in the league, Smith said. All I can say is that we're pleased with where we are. I don't know how it's happened, but it has. I wish they gave out championships after five games, but they don't.

The latest Chicago Bear news is that defensive end Adewale Ogunleye and defensive end Ian Scott. This has left the Bears team without two starting linemen who could help the league's stingiest defense even stingier.

Ogunleye has been out with a hamstring and has missed most practices the last few weeks. He has been replaced by Israel Idonije. Ian Scott has been replaced by Tank Johnson.

The latest Chicago Bear news is that the team has made some personnel changes. They have claimed defensive Marcus Maxey off waivers from the Kansas City Chiefs and wide receiver Airese Currie has become the newest member of the injured reserve on the team due to a foot injury.
Maxey had first been drafted by the Chiefs last year. He did not play in the first two games of this season and was then waived.

As part of the special teams, Currie made his NFL debut in the season opener at Green Bay. He was picked in the fifth round by the Bears in 2005.

International Cell Phone Services

If you are one who does a lot of international traveling, then you will want your clients to be able to reach you from wherever you might be in the world. But what are some of the options you have when it comes to maintaining your current level of cell phone (telefone celular) services worldwide? Do you have to buy a new plan? Do you have to pay outrageous rates? Just what is available?

First of all, the country where you live is very important when it comes to international cell phone (telefone celular) services. Most of the countries have one standard in cellular communications known as Global System for Mobile Communications or GSM. However, the United States did not follow the GSM standard and allowed competing wire carriers to develop their own standards. So, if you are coming from the United States and want to get cell phone coverage in another part of the world with your existing equipment, you probably will not be able to do it.

So lets get back to our options for international cell phone (telefone celular) service. It is important to understand that the key issues to having effective international cell phone service is that you must have a phone that will handle the frequencies plus a service that is compatible within the country you are communicating from. If you have a phone set that handles GSM service, then your phone will be compatible in at least 212 countries worldwide, as far as hardware is concerned. The only other item you will have to be concerned with is the service plan.

The GSM frequencies operate worldwide typically at 900 MHz but more and more the cell phones (telefone celular) are operating at 1800 MHz. There are some GSM phone services in the United States and Canada but they work at 1900 and 850 MHz and therefore are incompatible with the rest of the world. That is why more and more we are starting to see tri-band phones being sold that are compatible with both international and North American GSM frequencies. The Nokia 3220 is a good example as it will handle both the 1800 and 1900 MHz frequency bands.

But what about the international cell phone (telefone celular) service? If you get one of the tri-band phones you can get a SIM card that can be used in multiple countries. These SIM cards are somewhat like pre-paid phone service. You put the card in your GSM-capable phone and have international roaming coverage from wherever the card is valid.

When choosing an international cell phone SIM card for your GSM phone, there are things you should consider when making a decision on which SIM card to buy. First, what is the initial calling credit (how long before you have to recharge)? Of course you should know the rate structure of both the incoming and outgoing calls. Next you should make sure that your phone and SIM card you are purchasing will be valid for the countries you intend to travel.

Since you are not going to be global roaming with your home cell phone (telefone celular) service, you will want to let everyone there know how they can reach you by your new number. You can also change the greeting on the voice mailbox of your regular home cell phone service telling your callers your new access number while you are out of the country.

While you are using SIM cards that will be exchanged or replaced, make sure that you save everything (phone numbers, memos, notes, etc.) into your cell phone (telefone celular) handset and not the SIM card. If you save any information on your SIM card, then the information will be unavailable whenever you exchange for a new card in another country.

Microsoft Great Plains Dynamics GP Texas ERP implementation notes

Microsoft Dynamics GP should be considered as flexible MRP platform, ready to be modified to fit mid-size company business processes. It has rich set of modules, supported by Microsoft as well as so-called third party modules, supported and developed by Microsoft ISV partners. In this small article we will not be discussing third party modules, instead we will try to give you highlights on the customization technology when out of the box or available on the market products needs to be tailored. Also we will try to specify some typical cases for Texas industries

Oil & Gas. Especially in Houston and along the Gulf of Mexico. One of the business features is high intensity of production fixed assets utilization - offshore platform, drill, wellheads are typically utilized 24x7 and at the same time they require regular maintenance, which in turn is expensive service. In Dynamics GP you will need custom extensions to Fixed Assets module. From logistics you need to be in compliance with string regulation and high safety standards. Capacity Recourse planning should be reflected, however it is not classical manufacturing, so more likely you will not need Manufacturing and standard CRP modules themselves

Dallas Startups. When we are talking about new businesses, or startups their business model is often unique (because it is really innovative) and standard MRP system simply doesnt fit to its operations, when we are talking about ERP functionality beyond Financials modules: GL, AR, AP. In some cases Microsoft Dynamics GP could be considered as the core or back end of CRM, eCommerce or other type of Business Management System. In this case we are talking about integration. In other cases, standard GP functionality might be uniquely extended to automate unique startup business processes.

Sea Shipping. Logistics & Warehouse management, cargo tracking businesses typically have legacy system, which was and still is in use for decades often sitting in UNIX: IBM DBII, Oracle, Sybase, etc. This would be good GP integration scenario typically this is eConnect or SQL cross-platform or heterogeneous distributed queries routines. Special reporting needs, such as Bill of Lading in our opinion is not as complex as it is sometimes referred ReportWriter, Crystal Report or MS SQL Server Reporting Services could do the job.

Customization Technologies. eConnect (with XML Web Service interfaces) fits Visual Studio Developer, Microsoft Dexterity (former Great Plains Dexterity) is more fundamental tools (GP architecture historically was based on GPS Dexterity) it requires profound GP structure knowledge and probably several years of GP software development, SQL Stored Pros require some familiarity with Microsoft Dexterity database modeling.

Bedroom Decorating Ideas - Turn Your Bedroom Into A Getaway!

Your bedroom should be one of the most relaxing places in your home. If your bedroom feels disordered, you may not sleep well. Experts suggest mess or reminders of work in your sleeping space will interfere with getting a good night of sleep. These things keep your mind moving, and you may be worried about what you forgot to do, or what you will have to do the next day. You have to design your sleeping space for peace and relaxation. Bedroom decorating ideas are abundant, and your biggest problems might not be finding ideas, it might be narrowing down what you want from a list of things you like.

Bedroom decorating ideas are everywhere. You can find inspiration in magazines, on television, in movies, and even in store displays and catalogs. What you have to do is decide what feel you want for your sleeping area. In most cases, you want a relaxing color. A bright red or yellow might not be the best idea. However, a deep maroon or a very light yellow might be all right. The idea is to make sure the color is relaxing to your eye and not energizing or bright.

There are other bedroom decorating ideas you can consider. If you dont want to paint, you can choose to go with wallpaper. There are many from which to choose, and what you choose should be to your taste, but again, not bright or noisy. Look for something soothing, elegant, and easy on the eyes. You can find unique wallpaper designs by shopping around. You may not know what you are looking for, but dont let that stop you. You will know what you like when you see it.

You can also watch home improvement shows like Trading Spaces, or television networks like HGTV to get bedroom decorating ideas. The options are endless, and you may end up feeling overwhelmed. Once you have found three or four ideas you have fallen in love with, turn the television off. If you have too many choices, you will end up having a hard time narrowing it down. Dont let your selection of bedroom decorating ideas get the best of you.

If you cant decide and dont know what to do, you can ask with an interior designer to get bedroom decorating ideas. They will charge you a consulting fee, but it may be well worth it when you really want to do it yourself, but you have no idea where to begin. You can give them a general idea of what you want, and they can design something to fit the space you have, with the look you are looking for. They know how to mix and match colors, patterns, and ideas to make the perfect sleeping space for you.

The Benefits of Out Door Play

Well we know sitting in front of video games and t.v. are not health beneficial.Being out doors help's our children to become creative. It is also known that children sleep better when they have played outdoors. My own children spent hours outdoors, and though they came in filthy ,ninety percent of the time, they were so exhausted they would fall asleep in their, before bed bath.I did not mind the dirt on them nor did my wife ,it meant to us, that our children had a great time.

The benefits of outdoor play, can be found physically and mentally.Physically we know the benefits, strength, endurance, and builds coordination. Physical activity: mats, balls, riding toys, etc. Playing outside is a valuable activity for babies, toddlers, and preschoolers because of the many ways it promotes their development. Babies, toddlers and preschoolers are sensory-motor learners. Besides all the health benefits, playing outside stretches children's thinking and knowledge. Children need coordination, they need a chance to practice their basic physical skills. Outdoor play time also allows children to move freely and make noise - forms of self-expression that are often restricted indoors.

Too often these days we are afraid to allow our children to play outside. There are so many dangers waiting around every corner,But i say to you, make groups, get a bunch of kids together and make games with them ,or for them ,or just be close by to make sure no injurries occur.I know as a working parent it is very hard to make sure your kids get out side daily. If neighbors could come together and each take one day a week to encourage the children in your neighborhood to play together. Each parent taking turns on the different days of the week, before long you will have very busy kids, not to mention free time for the seperate parents, who's turn it is not.

Having kids go out and pick different leaves up to put in wax paper is a great way to get them outside and walking around. The children adore little art projects such as this. There are many benefits to outdoor play.It also gives our children a sense of adventure if they live near woods, always making sure they never enter extremely wooded areas alone.

Children with Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD). This study examined the relationship between childrens nature exposure through leisure activities and their attentional functioning using both within and between-subjects comparisons. Parents were surveyed regarding their childs attentional functioning after activities in several settings. Results indicate that children function better than usual after activities in green settings and that the "greener" a childs play area, the less severe his or her attention deficit symptoms. Thus, contact with nature may support attentional functioning in a population of children who desperately need attentional support.

Besides all this, playing outdoors reduces stress in kids. Children express and work out emotional aspects of every day experiences through unstructured play.Children allowed to play freely with peers learn skills for seeing things through another persons perspective, cooperating, sharing, and solving problems.

Children learn from motion. As adults we know that we learn through doing, it is the same for children. Developing perceptual abilities might suffer when so many of their experiences are through media, computers, books, and homework.the sense of smell, touch, and taste are wonderful ways to learn.

Children who are more free to spend time out doors, gain courage in moving through the larger world. They should gain the ability to navigate their immediate surroundings,in safety, thus layng the foundation, for the competence to eventually lead their own lives.

The world we live in today is increasingly complex, and a little scary, but the fact remains, our children need,as much as we did,The freedom to feel the wind on their cheek ,the kiss of the sun,and engage in self-paced play.Ignoring the developmental functions of unstructured outdoor play denies children the opportunity to expand their imaginations beyond the constraints of the classroom.

Selecting a Case for your iPod

The iPod Case:

The iPod Nano was an absolute marvel from Apple, a tiny bit thicker than a credit card and about the same length, so light you barely knew you were holding it yet it had one thing that was the bane of many Nano owners, it scratches like crazy! This prompted many owners to search out a protective case immediately but with over 500 available just for the Nano it can be a minefield to choose yours. Here we want something that will stop the Nano scratching, give it some protection if it falls and of course it must look good!

XtremeMac have been making iPod accessories since 2002 and are dedicated to producing cases and skins of the absolute highest quality. No where is this more recognizable than with their XtremeMac Microglove, a phenomenal invention for the iPod Nano that will go down in iPod Folklore by many of its devotees, available in 5 colours including a gorgeous red and tasty bright green the case provides ample protection for the Nanos Aluminum casing and has a fantastic look that is instantly recognizable from a distance, they even were generous enough to include a Carabiner for clipping your Ipod nano in its case to your belt loop or rucksack, this case certainly does enough to get our award as the best iPod case on the market.

Another excellent Nano offering from XtremeMac is their Tuffwrap Accent pictured on the left, these are aimed to appeal to all age levels especially younger trendy iPod users. Available in 6 different colour combinations they really did make one for everyone and the protection for your iPod nano is nothing short of outstanding with a firm silicone protecting almost the whole iPod leaving good access to the click wheel and screen and the headphone socket uncovered. Both cases from XtremeMac provide excellent protection as well as great access to the headphone socket.

Our number one case for the 5G Video iPod simply has to be the Tunewear PRIE Tunewallet. Tunwear are a niche company producing a range of accessories from Japan for Apple iPods that are of the highest quality. Never has the iPod been integrated so well into a protective case with room for cards and money as in the case of the PRIE Tunewallet. Made of genuine Nappa leather and priced at 24.99 at most good stores these are also superb value and would not be out of place protecting the Video Ipod of a student or Chief Executive of a large Corporation, they really are wonderful to look at, offer strong protection for the Video iPod and have room for your cards and some money, unbelievable!

For those that like something high tech for their Video iPod and like their accessories strong Matias offer something very special. A full cover case made out of Aircraft Grade Aluminum! Matias have been making their Armour range for Laptops for years but saw an opportunity with the iPod range to get something very special made. They certainly succeeded, a Video ipod incased in a Matias iPod Armour gives the appearance of something completely bombproof and if your iPod gets dumped n a bag or you are accident prone this will certainly keep your Video Ipod in top condition. Inside is a very neat tough almost suede like material to cushion your iPod in the event of any accidents. The headphone port is clear for your listening pleasure but the rest of the iPod is as safe as Fort Knox.

When the iPod Shuffle was released many wandered whether the idea of listening to your music in random order would catch on, it is hard to say what peoples true feeling about random order music was but one thing is sure they bought the value iPof in their thousands as they flew off of our shelves and continue to do so. There are less cases offered for the Shuffle than the Nano and Video but fortunately what we are offered is quality as opposed to quantity in the form of the Griffin iVault. This case is so far ahead of the competition that it is not a competition. Offered in five very eye catching and appealing metallic colours it certainly makes your Shuffle stand out from the crowd. The case screws shut with 4 screws leaving your Shuffle very very secure and still allowing access to the headphone port, control wheel, usb port and LED light. The Shuffle incased in an iVault weighs in at less than 1.5 ounzes so it is still the featherlight Shuffle that you bought it for, a great case from Griffin Technology.

The Growing Importance of Speed-reading and Efficient Reading

As I am sure each and every one of you already knows, our society is now founded on information. Most of the information that floods us each is still presented to us in a written format. The mediums that are used to deliver information to us have changed drastically in the last 20 or so years. We now get a tremendous amount of our information online or through E-Mails. The speed in which information is now transferred between people is one of the single largest contributing factors contributing to our information overload.

Unfortunately, most of us have not increased our reading and retention rates to match the increased speeds in which information is delivered. In fact some of us are still horrible slow readers, and we find that we are unable to keep up with our daily reading load.

Here are some quick tips that may help you to understand why your reading speeds and retention rates are not as high as they should be. If you have trouble reading at a reasonable speed and retaining what you read, you may be fixating. Fixation in reading is when your eye stops on a letter or word while you are reading. You might be interested to know that the average person fixates about four times per line on each page of a book.

The good news is that your brain does see and process the information beyond the edges of your fixated focus. If you practice, you can find a rhythm and flow in reading, and read at a continuous pace. With average vision, you can see and process ten to twelve letters at a time.

It may help for you to think of reading as a sort of pick and choose activity, where you can choose to read the words and phrases that are critical to comprehension, and skip over the connective tissue. Connective words like and, or, the and are, can get you stuck on the minutia. If you are reading word-for-word, you will probably become stuck on little words that do not give you much information for your effort.

Train yourself to read more quickly by forced timing. For example, if you were a runner and you were training for a race, you would go out and run every day and you try to improve your time and your distance. You can do the same with your reading; Set a timer and run a reading race every day for two or three weeks. You do not have to spend more than five or ten minutes a day on this exercise. You may become frustrated, at first, by the fact that you cannot read as fast or remember as much as you would like.

Even more important than becoming a "Speed Reader" is the goal of becoming an "Efficient Reader". An efficient reader is a reader with a purpose. An efficient reader knows what it is that they want to get out of what is being read, and they may even have some questions in mind that they hope the book will be able to answer.

An efficient reader focuses on ideas, rather than words, and visualizes the ideas presented in the book or article. As they read, the efficient reader will mentally sort the information to decide what is important and what is not. They direct their focus on only the important or intriguing information.

An efficient reader reads at a steady pace. They do not regress, or go back to re-read. They do not hesitate over a line and wonder whether they have gotten every tiny bit of the information. Efficient readers know to adjust their reading speed to increase focus on a particularly critical area or to accommodate for a sudden distraction or interruption that may affect their focus.

In other words, efficient readers are reading consciously and are therefore aware when they needs to increase the focus so that they do not miss vital information.

When you sit down to read an article or a book, test your comprehension after every reading session. Mentally challenge yourself to remember as many things as you can about what you just read. Again, this is a skill that will improve with practice.

Remember that it is vital to improve your reading speed, but not at the cost to your reading comprehension. You must find the balance between being an Efficient Reader and a Speed Reader. Reading 2000 words a minute is not going to do you any good if you have no idea what you just read.

With practice you can improve both your reading speed and your comprehension. But you must practice!

Collectible Porcelain Dolls and the Collectible Antique Doll

Playing with dolls is almost every little girls favourite pastime and while some girls almost never totally give up their toys, others make a hobby out of it and collect collectible porcelain dolls. Collectible Dolls are wonderful items for children and adults alike. Collectible dolls can be made of porcelain, or can be a reminder of a childhood past, which is the effect Cabbage Patch kids have on many people. However, for a true taste of American history, one need look no further than the American Girls Collection for a perfect collectible doll.

The American Girls Collection was first designed by an educator named Pleasant T. Rowland. She was unhappy with how most dolls were created with the concept of adulthood (in particular motherhood) in mind. Rowland thought that dolls for girls should have more of a focus on girlhood itself, and thus the American Girls Collection was born.

These collectible dolls represent a cross-section of the cultures, economic backgrounds, and societal problems that many young girls had to deal with over the course of American history. Each collectible doll has a story, and each story comes in the form of a corresponding book series. These books highlight such issues as slavery, child labour, and poverty.

Porcelain dolls have been a special item almost from the very minute they were invented. It was never a toy for a little girl to play with but more for an adult to collect and treasure. Collectible porcelain dolls are very delicate with unique features and carefully designed details.

Each and every little detail is taken in consideration when a collectible porcelain doll is appraised because any and every little damage especially to the face, which is the most fragile, will bring its value down on the collectors market.

The thing to remember about a collectible antique doll is that at one point it is usually the best friend and confidante of a young girl, often dressed and played with and may have been repaired along they way. Knowledge is imperative for anyone anticipating starting a doll collection to ensure that they are getting what they pay for in their collection.

Another key to having a collectible antique doll is that original clothing and accessories will often set you back perhaps more than the price of the doll itself. As people begin their collections it is not unusual for them to pick up well-worn dolls with the thought of restoring them to original condition. Bear in mind, a good pair of shoes for a collectible antique doll, such as French bisque, could cost about $100. Original clothing for some dolls can cost several hundreds of dollars.

Many collectible antique dolls come in all shapes and sizes with some, like a frozen china doll, being less than two inches tall. It should be noted that a frozen doll is one that does not move at all. These and other collectible antique dolls are available and although their prices have risen recent years, there are still bargains to be found.

Additional points to look for are the clothing as quality collectible antique dolls also came with original clothing and many of the outfits rivalled your dresses in quality, fit and prices. It isnt unusual for an original dress to cost upwards of $500 in good condition. In fact, there are some people who own valued collectible antique doll clothing but the dolls are of inferior condition. They are focusing on the threads not the doll.

There are a vast number of collectible porcelain dolls which make the treasures of a true collector, from baby dolls to dolls representative of different national costumes, the list and the fascination is endless. Again, the details are what make one collectible porcelain doll more valuable than the other.

The Adjustable Rate Mortgage as Long Term Loan

Adjustable rate mortgages are long term mortgage loans with variable interest rates. They have a schedule of principal and interest payments just like a fixed mortgage, but the interest rate may be adjusted at regular intervals during the term of the loan. Therefore, the monthly payments are likely to move up and down as the rate is adjusted.

An ARM is an important financing alternative for first and second mortgages. In addition, many home equity loans are structured as adjustable rate mortgages.

In addition to the contract interest rate, discount points, loan to value ratio, and maturity, ARMs have their own unique set of terms:

- Adjustment Interval: most ARMs are adjusted at regular intervals stated in the mortgage contract. In between these intervals, the interest rate on the loan is constant. The shorter the interval, the more sensitive the loan is to changing interest rates. Most first ARMs are adjusted annually

- Initial Interest Rate: all ARMs have an interest rate that is fixed until the first adjustment date. Sometimes this rate is set low to attract borrowers, called a teaser rate. Therefore, the initial interest rate does not indicate the long term cost of the loan.

- Convertibility: some ARMs provide the borrower with the option to convert to a fixed rate loan during the loan term.

Because your payments almost always rise later on, some detractors call it a compact with the devil. Nonetheless, an Arm in some markets can cut your initial payments by as much as a third. That can mean the difference between being able to purchase and being left out in the cold.

The best way to understand an ARM is to compare it to a fixed-rate mortgage. With a fixed-rate mortgage you always know where you stand. Your interest rate and your monthly payment remain constant for the life of the loan whether it is for 3 years or 30 years.

With an ARM, its quite different. Your interest rate fluctuates, it moves up and down depending on market conditions. Your monthly payment, which reflects the interest rate, likewise can vary up or down over the life of the loan.

Given a choice between a mortgage where you never know what your monthly payment is going to be, and a mortgage where the monthly payment is fixed, any reasonable person would opt for the fixed-rate mortgage. The real key to deciding whether or not to get an ARM is how long the teaser rate lasts. If you get an initial low interest rate and payment for just 1 month, and then it goes up, you have accomplished almost anything.

On the other hand, if the low monthly payment lasts for several years, it can be just the right thing, particularly if you sell or refinance when the teaser expires. In fact you want the teaser to be for as long as possible so you get a lower monthly payment than you otherwise would get. Second, you hope that once the teaser evaporates and your interest rate and payment go up, you can refinance to another ARM with another low teaser.

Does Your Insurance Cover Flooding?

Considering the climate is ever changing and the majority of the UK has in recent weeks (June 2007) been suffering from unusual weather and in particular rain and storms, it is now more essential and more important than ever that you know whether or not you are covered by your policy for events such as flooding.

Just recently many people have found that they didnt have the valuable cover needed, while others were lucky and did, when torrential rains hit the UK and homes were flooded and possessions ruined. This one occurrence is thought to bring around 1,200 claims on insurance for the ones that were lucky enough to have cover.

However a sad fact is that while many people do have insurance for their homes and believe that they are totally covered, a staggering 257,000 of all claims against policies are turned down every year simply because the home owner hasnt taken out the right policy or they didnt bother to look at what the policy did and did not cover and have found that they arent covered when it comes to making a claim.

One of the biggest reasons why adequate cover isnt taken is due to the fact that the majority of people simply take the cheapest policy they find while not looking at what the policy entails. While of course everyone wants the cheapest premium, it is also essential that you have the right amount of cover for your needs, while savings are essential on your premium in the long run cheapest isnt always the best.

When considering your home insurance the number one thing to make sure of is that you have all the cover you need. Using a specialist broker for your home insurance is the easiest way of keeping the cost down and you are able to quickly and easily make comparisons for the same coverage from the information provided by them.

Always remember when comparing policies that they all have hidden exclusions within them and it is essential that you check these out, while one policy might offer the cheapest premiums, it might not include the same cover that a more expensive policy might and as such will cost you more in the long run if you have to pay out for added extras.

How Blogs Can Break Or Make Your SEO Strategy

Blogs are a great way to get started authoring content and sharing your knowledge and insights with other people. Plus, mix work and play - and you can get rich doing this.

You don't have to be an MBA-accredited author by any means. However, there are some rules to play by, and I'll break those out below. We will talk about the top blogs, practicalities around blogs and creative ways to get started, including how you could possibly ruin your good-standing ranking and having to change your Search Engine Optimization strategy.

Blogs - Structure and Layout

I work in the field of Search Engine Optimization. It has a wide range of options, from the technical to the more strategic. Tons of discussions are found on off-page and on-page factors, latent semantic analysis, content scope, quality, HTML/CSS development, site navigational structure, spamdexing, 301 redirects, plagiarism, link strategies, directories, blogs, search engine news, email marketing tips & online (internet) marketing. Most all of the top 10 SEO firms out there agree that blogs are a "must" for driving traffic and get established in the Internet community.

There is a right way, and a wrong way. We'll discuss these below.

Be warned - too many folks out there are thinking about "how to outbeat the search engines" and use the latest-and-greatest (blogs) to elevate their rankings, essentially via content and blog spam. Blogs are a powerful way to get seen by the search bots. Blogger (Google's own) is an important key to the puzzle, but there are many.

THE UN-OFFICIAL TOP 7
BLOGGING BEST PRACTICES FOR SEO

Start here, begin a quick review of the world's top blogs:
http://www.technorati.com/pop/blogs - updated daily
http://www.technorati.com/pop/blogs - he makes #16,000/month
http://microsaw.stikipad.com/ - web 2.0 blogs

Get an account - it's free. log in - and - don't start! What? No, you must first continue by scanning the list above and get a sense for what people are writing about. This could be more generic at first, but start looking to yourself. What do you know? What do people come to you for? Anything that you specialize in? (Hint: don't think "how can I sell this" - but "how can I share this?") You'll also learn how to use trackback functions to allow other people to be notified. Permalinks are great for SEO and should be used where appropriate. So, now you learned something big: be yourself!

Think about an interesting headline. You don't need to be copywriter, but you should think about your headline and the topic at hand. More importantly, is it something that you are passionate about, or can contribute something to? It's ok to spend some time here, writer's block can come up. Think about other sites, can you re-write their UVP (unique value proposition)? How would you write yours (thinking theme here). What I've found to work is simply sit back and start talking as if you were discussing a (hot) topic with a friend, and then breaking it out into sub-groups from there.

Writing tips: casual, friendly and interesting (meaning you have something to write and you don't copy others) works well in blogs. Make sure you stay on topic and that you are truthful. Would you lie to your mother? Of course not - then think about this when you are writing online (and she will not come after you). Yahoo's blogging policy is a good one: "Be respectful of your colleagues, get your facts straight, provide context to your argument, and engage in private feedback." Also, make sure to include images (flickr) and video (youtube, google video) where you can. Make the images rich and colorful, don't worry about sizing too much.

Committment, persistence and disciplin. Sound like an extract from Jim Rohn or Anthony Robbins? Well, they probably are - but it applies to most of the things you do in life. So be it with blogging. Carve out 1/2-1 hour every day to nurture to your blog business. Think of it as your morning ritual - right after you have attended to your family and other duties. Plus, often you are not going to be in writing mode - but rather, maintenance mode - reviewing and responding to other blogger's input.

Search engines start picking up your blog, and traffic increases. Be prepared and if it gets out of hand, be able to manage that too. I'm not simply talking about traffic, but as others join and comment, you may need to defend your stance, including admitting mistakes if / when you make them. Folks appreciate other folks who are big enough to admit mistakes if it gets there. For example, you may have folks who don't like you - even if you're Bill Gates. This guy created a Corporate Weblog Manifesto that I found interesting.

Run and host your own blog service. More expensive, but this could have a large impact on your ability to control not only the content, but custom HTML layouts, code and information architecture that are important to search engines. You can offer this as a service to others in your niche market. http://businesslogs.com/ is a great resource to use for starting this process, and more hands-on development companies like http://www.leveltendesign.com/ can be an option for you. Keep in mind that the market has developed niche-companies, from real-estate to healthcare, and you should research those specifically.

Content is important for Search Engine Optimization - be on top of it, keep a schedule.

Voila - that's it, there you have it. Watch how the search engines will start picking up your content. You can run tools to see how you are ranking, how often you are showing up in the search engines. We like http://www.UrlTrends.com as a simple beginner starting point. However, it's not 100% accurate, other SEO tools can provide more detail.

Keep your content fresh, updates daily is preferred - and definitely once a week and your search engine marketing (which includes search engine optimization) will become more visible than it was just last week. Then, use http://pingomatic.com/ to alert search engines that you have made updates. It's a free service, and will help your visibility.
